1.October 2nd 1874 The first batism performed in St. Stephens Church Stephenville Register signed by Rev.Thomas Sears.
2.Oct.6th 1944 Second West Coast Agriculture Fair opened by Governor Walwyn.
3. October 8th 1979 ....Thanksgiving
4.Oct.9th 1909 Official opening of the A.N.D Newsprintmill in Grand Falls.
5.Oct 9th 1949 The Bowater Mill at Corner Brook produced a record 1010 tons of paper in one days operation.
6.Oct. 13th 1926 first Girl Guide meeting held in Corner Brook.
7.Oct 13th 1897 The S.S.Bruce arrived to commence the service between Port Aux Basque and North Sydney.
8.Oct. 14th 1942 S.S.Caribou sank near Port Aux Basque by a German Submarine.
