Sept.1st 1857 The First Postage Stamp was issued In Newfoundland
Sept.8th 1767 Capt. James Cook in Bay of Islands bestowing names and surveying the Humber River.
Sept.9th 1956 Official Opening of Holy Redeemer Cathedral, Corner Brook
Sept.12th 1909 Sacred Heart Chruch Curling extension opened with the confirmation class of 89 children
Sept.13th 1895 First mail from Bay of Islands reached St. John's by train
Sept.15th 1902 Bank of Montreal -first Bank on West Coast -opened at Birchy Cove (Curling )
Sept.18th 1955 New St, Mary's Church , Curling consecrated after being rebuilt.
Sept.22 1878 first recorded telegraph message received at Birchy Cove , Bay of Islands
Sept. 29th 1863 W.H.Baggs and Charlie Parsons and their families arrived at Birchy Cove Bay of Islands .They were the first families to settle there.
