1 Dec. 1st 1923 The Newfoundland Medical Society was formed .Dr. Keegan was the first President.
2.Dec.8th 1839 Simon Soloman who in 1805 becameNewfoundlands first Post Master Died.
3.Dec.11th 1919 S.S.Ethie wrecked on Martin's Point ,near Bonne Bay . All Passengers and Crew saved.
4.Dec.16th Two brothers named White drowned at Trout River St.Barbe District during a severe storm.
5.Dec 16th 1949The Telephone Circuit St. John's to Port Aux Basque was opened.
6.Dec.18th 1878 First case held in First Court House on West Coast .Case of Benjamin Brake accused of shooting John Carter on Dec 8th 1875.
7.Nov 19th 1933 A huge squid was caught weighning 570 lbs was caught by fishermen in Dildo.
8.Dec. 20th 1878 Benjamin Brakes house was burned down by person or persons unknown.
9.Dec.20th 1858 Baccalieu first lit.
10.Dec.25th 1898 Penny Postage came into effect in Newfoundland .
11, In 1879 ice sealed up the Bay of Islands leaving the area without sufficient provisions to meet the requirements of the people for the winter months, 40 families were absolutely destitute.
